Fidia Farmaceutici is celebrating its 80th anniversary with a new financial transaction, the eighth in the last five years.

Confirming the steady course of development it has embarked upon, the Group has completed the acquisition of pharmaceutical products from So.Se. Pharm srl, an Italian leader in the manufacture and distribution of branded generic medicinal products, medical devices and dietary supplements, with its headquarters in Pomezia (RM) and a production facility in Agnani (FR).

Through this transaction, Fidia is therefore expanding its portfolio in the fields of Cardiology and Urology with the brands Alamut, Antunes, Berny, Crotonil, Dicolev, Ferrogyn, Giachela, Nebiscon and Tadap, which are distributed and sold in Italy and in certain non-EU countries.

The transaction forms part of an external growth strategy under which the Group has invested more than €300 million in acquisitions over the last five years, leading to an increase in turnover and EBITDA of Fidia by 45%, from €371.2 to €538.3 million, and by 45.8%, from €75.5 to €110 million, respectively, over the same period.

A history of steady growth

The Group’s growth through external expansion in recent years coincides with the start of direct management by Carlo Pizzocaro, who has been at the helm of the company since 2016.

Over the last decade, Fidia has focused its development strategy on transactions aimed at expanding, integrating and diversifying the company’s portfolio. This plan was launched in 2016 with the acquisition of Biofarmitalia S.r.l, a company specialising in the development of transdermal patches for the treatment of osteoarticular pain, followed by the significant acquisition of Sooft Italia spa, a leading Italian company in the ophthalmic sector. Since then, the company has continued to invest in complementary fields, including regenerative medicine, through access into the Group of Soluciones Bioregenerativas SL, a Spanish company specialising in the production of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma).

In 2019, Fidia Farmaceutici also expanded its presence in Spain through the acquisition of three ophthalmic products from Novartis Farma Spain and, in 2023, it entered the Polish pharmaceutical market by acquiring the operations of the Polish subsidiary of the US group Unipharm.

These transactions were complemented by further initiatives, including the most significant one concluded in 2024 with Sanofi, which – through the acquisition of six brands distributed in more than 50 countries, primarily in Africa and the Middle East – enabled the Group to strengthen its international presence in the gynaecological medicinal products sector, and the one completed in 2021, which saw the Group acquire, again from Sanofi, a broad portfolio of anti-inflammatory products and corticosteroids.

In 2024, the acquisition of the ophthalmic business of Sanifarma srl, a leading Italian company in the field of over-the-counter eye care, was also completed, and a commercial agreement was signed with Novartis for the distribution of six ophthalmic medicinal products intended for the treatment of glaucoma.

Finally, this recent growth was consolidated in 2025 by the acquisition, in the United Kingdom, of Altacor Ltd, a company active in the distribution of ophthalmic products, and of Meditrina Pharmaceuticals S.r.l., a Romanian company based in Bucharest specialising in the distribution, promotion and marketing of medical devices, medicinal prod and cosmetics in the fields of urology, gynaecology and dermatology.

The latest acquisition from So.Se. Pharm represents a new chapter in Fidia’s growth story, which began over the last ten years through a process of external expansion, which I strongly championed, aimed at strengthening our portfolio, expanding our international presence and consolidating our position in our key areas of expertise. This transaction confirms our commitment to building an increasingly global, robust and diversified company, capable of combining scientific expertise, research and industrial capabilities to meet the needs of the people, patients and stakeholders we serve,” commented Carlo PizzocaroChairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fidia Farmaceutici.
