The skin is our body’s first line of defence. Its outermost layer, the epidermis, is covered by a thin hydrolipidic film, composed of water and lipids, which is essential for keeping the skin hydrated, protected from external agents and able to regenerate properly.1
When the skin barrier is altered – for various reasons such as exposure to UV rays, use of aggressive products, rubbing, climatic stress, environmental pollution or increased predisposition – the skin becomes more vulnerable to dehydration, irritation, redness and cracking.2 In these cases, active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid help restore the hydrolipidic film and the correct level of hydration, promoting the restoration of the skin’s barrier function.3

Superficial wounds, such as cuts, abrasions and small scratches, are one of the most common skin problems and, not surprisingly, account for over half of all injuries that occur in the home.1 Although minor, these injuries can compromise the skin’s barrier function and increase the risk of infection. Proper wound management begins with disinfection and gentle cleansing, followed by the application of products that promote hydration, tissue repair and, if necessary, prevent microbial contamination. Clinical studies confirm that keeping wounds in a moist and protected environment accelerates healing and reduces the risk of scarring.2

Pain is one of the main causes of reduced quality of life globally: worldwide, 93% of the population has experienced pain at least once in the last year.1 Pain, especially when chronic or recurrent, compromises quality of life, reducing personal autonomy and limiting work capacity and social relationships. This data highlights the importance of developing effective strategies for pain management and relief, for the benefit of public health and individual well-being.

According to the World Health Organisation, over 1.7 billion people suffer from musculoskeletal conditions that cause persistent pain, negatively affecting their ability to perform daily, work and social activities.1 In particular, in 2020, back pain affected 619 million people worldwide, and the number of cases is estimated to increase to 843 million by 2050, driven largely by population expansion and ageing.2,3
